Hello hello!

Good evening, this is going to have to be a short and sweet blog post tonight because I'm a busy bee!

I went to the SCBWI event today in Birmingham and as nervous as I was initially it went really well, everyone was very friendly and helpful and I had a lovely constructive day all in all! :)

Also this evening I found out I'd been featured on Imaginative Bloom which was a really nice end to a nice day! :)

Creature mag feature :)

Good afternoon! As you can see from the picture above, I was featured on Creature Mag a day or two ago as one of the tweeting illustrators :) Some other brilliant work up so deffo check it out!!

My book I've been working on for my RCC is safely in the hands of the lovely Rik at Ripe Digital and I'm so excited to see how it looks when it gets here!

After a lovely afternoon watching Planet Earth in HD I've got a few nice ideas for a zine as a little break from uni work so you'll be hearing more about that soon....

aaaaannnnddd on Saturday is the SCBWI in Birmingham which I'm preparing my portfolio nervously for and should hopefully be attending it, albeit on my own! Eep.

roughs

Here's what I'm up to today, colour roughs and got some finals to make it seems!! Pretty happy with how these have turned out. I've started to use photoshop to add some of the more difficult elements to my work so then I don't freak out about ruining my final piece and the pressure is off a little. Literally just using it a tiny bit makes such a difference to my frame of mind and seems worth taking ten mins sitting at the computer rather then hours re-doing work over and over again when it goes wrong!

Tonight is not going as I planned, so here's a picture of something science-y i did while in India.

Good news for people who love bad news

Hello!

Now that it's no longer 2 in the morning I'm going to expand and have a little natter about my project and what an earth is going on in my life!

I've almost finished my book on 'How the birds keep warm in winter' which you have probably seen a lot more of on my flickr then you have on here (sorry about that.)

However I'm now working hard on my RCC which is basically a drawn version of dissertation. I have chosen to do this because I'm extremely stupid, fancy having my work ambiguously marked and also because the idea really excited me. After I got back from India getting back into work straight away while trying to adjust to everything around me was a real challenge and there were quite a few other issue's that I had to try and resolve during the making of my bird book.

Although my RCC is autobiographical, theres a little boy telling my story and it's full of metaphors and little penguins that have crossed over from my bird book :)

Christmas break has left me with lots to do, and my creative new years resolutions are hanging over my head too. I want to get a proper website set up, and start selling some of my work as prints :) All in good time my dears!

I should get back to work but I'll leave you with an image I'm toying around with. It depicts the boy holding the Bird book, finally! :)

New year!!
