Saturday's blog post

I'm not feeling very happy today due to stressing about money and it just seems to of taken over all of my thoughts, and blahhh.

So I thought i'd do a little backtrack post and show you a couple of the images I finished for Ben Calvert's music video. We're yet to film, and i do hope i have time before I go off to India, (which is in about 9 days!!!!) for 10 weeks.

Not really much else to update on in all honesty! Will hopefully do another longer post before i leave!

Blanket magazine! :)

Heylo!

Sorry it's been a while, I'm currently on a little break in the countryside, so i'll keep this short and sweet. Here's some screen printing I've been doing recently and also a little badge of honour because I've been featured in the latest issue of Blanket Magazine :) Take a look, it's so cheap there's no reason not too!

Hello! After a few stressful days I finally got my act together and submitted to the Cheltanham Illustration awards.

Tomorrow I meet up with some-one I might be working on a music video with! However I won't say too much about it just yet, lets see how tomorrow goes. :)

I'm going to have a rant.

Right. I'm sorry about this but it's long overdue, however if you would like to skip the rant and go to the good news at the bottom please feel free.

Rant- Ok, so I had strategically planned out my time in order to get things submitted to Macmillan's, and possibly scrape by on professional practice. Then yes- would you believe it- things go tits up. AS PER USUAL. Basically, I was doing my work onto Daler Rowney pastel paper, yes, fair enough? The way I was working was to use ink and then put down pastel and pen ontop of that and you have seen this works from the squirrel and owl I have posted in the past. So I need some slightly bigger paper to do my final pieces on, so i troop down to Birmingham's ONLY art shop, where unfortunately they have discontinued the paper that I have been using, however they stock a different brand of pastel paper, just a slightly different shade. So, slightly put out I purchase about 7 sheets of this pastel paper and just plan to deal with the different shades.

I finish one final piece on a blue pastel paper I had bought previously- all is well- and then go on to create another final piece on the new pastel paper, measure it out correctly, draw in pencil my double page spread and.....Yes you guessed it, the ink's ruin the paper and look terrible and there is no way I can even consider putting pen ontop because if even the base colour isn't right it's going to look damn awful.

Disheartened I convince myself the uni shop will be open, i pay to get into town and of course it is not. So...I'm pretty much screwed for entering Macmillans, its slowed down my flow of work because I've been knocked down from such high hopes so...yes...here I am.

A shitload of work due in, no paper to do it on. Sigh.

Good news. Good news. Yes this is needed, well first and foremost, I've been asked to do the illustrations for the next http://www.silkwormsink.com/ chapbook which I'm really excited about, also there has come up the opportunity to work with a local band on a music video!! I'm waiting to hear more about this and hopefully will post up more info when I do.

Sorry about the rant earlier!

I'm off to make tea and try to get a grip, haha.

A little bit of everything...

When I went to visit my mum last week I managed to get a couple of lovely photos of my little sister :) She was pretty transfixed looking at my nose stud and so in that moment of quiet I caught quite a nice photo of her.
My mum also revealed one of her favorite books and I loved it, it fits in so well with what I've been working on and the way I've been working so I thought I'd blog a few of my photo's of it. It's called 'Zzzz The Book Of Sleep.' A beautiful read, and my little sister loves it too. Hurrah, common ground already!
A huge even of the day was my umbrella though...As I was going to the countryside I was rightfully prepared with my umbrella, but it turns out that they were Christina's favorite thing EVER..And so I lost if for the day....Yes, the entire day.

And to finish off my bog post here's a little sneak preview of a polar bear I've been working on, hehe! :)

penguin fever

It was my friends birthday and after a few failed attempts at drawing an impressive horse on her card, I drew a mildly impressive penguin. Hurrah! :)

We had a lovely evening bowling and I got a little bit tipsy. Things are looking up and I have high hopes on a few big things which I hope don't go too wrong! It's about time in my life for good luck though, so if they happen, I'll be sure to blog about them :):)

In the meantime there's much to be getting on with, one week left. arrrrrrr!

Hi from drizzly birmingham..

I'm finding it increasingly hard to leave the house, I think I'm becoming a recluse, either that or I'm just too wrapped up in all of my ideas at the moment. Whenever I do leave I don't think about anything else, so might as well just stay in right?

The weather hasn't been helping one bit*, and so I think today may be another indoor day.

*please note this may all be excuses and I might just be pandering to my grouchy mood.

Anyway! Got plenty to be getting on with today, just submitted some work to the Working Class Awards, don't expect to get very far, but it was free so i thought I might as well!

Will be posting up todays progress later hopefully. :)

Small update

Hello again! Here is a small update where I'm going to complain about how hard I'm finding it to work during the day, it seems after 6pm is when my body is like YES lets do work, and therefore I work until really late, messing up my ever decreasing sleeping pattern. I think now its the easter holidays I might just allow myself to sink into an awful sleeping regime, and see if my work improves or even if i just get more done it'll be something.

Yes. bring on the evening work.

Also, it's worth mentioning, that I've started drawing 'what i wore today' for little breaks and it's quite a nice thing to do I think, so I'll post some up soon and keep at it hopefully.

a little character experimentation for a new story I'm working on :)

The flood covered even the highest mountain.

Here's a quick look at my final piece for Noah's Ark. It was produced on Balsa wood and the sea lifted up to reveal the mountains underneath.

I'm quite happy with aspects of it, but really need to keep working on composition and text :)
